Red Bull about difference between Verstappen and Hamilton: "Very close together"
Christian Horner thinks that Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are the two men who are the most in shape in Formula 1. The team boss of Red Bull Racing expects that in 2020 we will see some great battles between the two rivals. Horner will also comment on the disappointing Sunday of Alexander Albon.
"They're the two Formula 1 drivers who are in the best shape. It is very close between them," concludes Horner at Sky Sports. "Max is 22 years old and Lewis is 36 years old, I think. They are in a very different phase of their careers. I'm hopeful that we'll see them compete against each other in the next Grands Prix. I think the teams and the fans would like to see that. It would be good for Formula 1."
Balance in RB16 was missing
Albon started the Spanish GP from sixth place, but in the end he didn't get further than a disappointing eighth place. "Alex didn't have enough balance in the car and then it became difficult. He drove in the dirty air for a long time. It was very frustrating for him." The choice to drive on the hard tyres during the second stint didn't work out well for the British Thai either.
At Red Bull they are in any case working hard to improve Albon's performance. "We're doing a lot behind the scenes to help him. We are also looking at how it is possible that Verstappen manages to get more out of the car than Alex. There is a lot of faith in Alex. He has shown that he has the skills to be a very fast driver. We want to help him get on top of it."
Red Bull gives Albon time
Horner calls for patience. "It's hard for him. The car is also difficult to drive at the moment. With some time and improvements on our part, it's going to be okay."
