Colin Kolles accuses Mercedes of giving a 2019 wind tunnel and scale model of the Mercedes to Racing Point. It could have major consequences for Mercedes, according to Marc Priestley.
Unrest within Mercedes
The former team boss of Racing Point's predecessor, Colin Kolles, caused a stir by reporting that Racing Point has a scale model of the Mercedes to make designing the car easier. What's going on behind the scenes here and what are the consequences for Mercedes, Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton?
''Kolles and Wolff have had quite a fight in the past, but if this story is true, it could have huge consequences for Mercedes. The situation is already becoming more and more uncomfortable, because teams now seem to think that Mercedes has offered more help to Racing Point. Otherwise you can't copy the whole philosophy of the car," said Marc Priestley in his latest video.
Are Wolff and Hamilton leaving?
Before the Spanish Grand Prix, Toto Wolff said he was thinking about his future and that makes Mercedes even more questionable. "Toto is not sure about his future and the fact that he speaks so openly about it tells me that he has already made the choice or at least has already had the conversation at home."
''Lewis' argument that he doesn't want to sign a contract yet because of all the suffering of the corona crisis doesn't make sense of course. That suffering will always be there in the world, so he will never be able to sign a contract. Maybe Wolff and Hamilton are thinking about their future together in Formula 1 and at Mercedes," Priestley concluded
