Max Verstappen: "These are my five best races ever"
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen has become one of the tastemakers of Formula 1, in which his races are often praised. But what does he actually think are his best races? In an interview with the German Speedweek he put together his personal top 5, from karting to Formula 1.
2013: Circuit International Jean Brun, Varennes-sur-Allier (Karting)
"This race will always be with me. I left the field behind me and was never really under pressure. We had worked very hard all weekend, that's why this victory was so satisfying. The icing on the cake was that my father had prepared my kart.
2014: Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (Formula 3)
"I drove for Van Amersfoort Racing and in the first four weekends I had only won one race. In Belgium, however, everything came together: three races, three victories. Moreover, I had a lot of good fights on the track, I was able to learn a lot from them".
2014: Norisring (Formula 3)
"At Spa-Francorchamps it went very well, but at the Norisring it went almost perfectly. I was on pole twice, won three times and drove the best lap three times. So almost clear. This performance was the reason why Dr. Helmut Marko called my father and eventually led to the Formula 1 contract".
2015: Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (Formula 1)
"My first victory in Formula 1 came out of nowhere. I was transferred from Toro Rosso to Red Bull Racing for the Spanish GP and everyone probably knows the rest. As a driver you dream of this moment and when that dream came true it was very emotional for my father and me. We were incredibly happy.
2020: Silverstone Circuit (Formula 1)
"This year there were two races at Silverstone; the British Grand Prix and the race in honour of 70 years of Formula 1. In the British GP I only just missed the victory, but during the second race at Silverstone we did everything strategically right. We managed to beat the dominant car, which is what makes the victory so valuable. We now know - if we can put pressure on Mercedes, we can beat them.
