Yesterday the rumour came out that the Renault Formula 1 team will change its name at the end of the season. They will continue under the name of Alpine, a brand within the Renault family. More details about this came out today.

RaceFans.net claim to have received the official name of the team. From next year the French team will be on the starting list as: 'Alpine F1 Team powered by Renault E-Tech engines'.

Abiteboul involved in Alpine project

That is quite a mouthful, but it does make it clear that Renault are entering Formula 1 with environmentally friendly technology, while the team itself will henceforth be known as Alpine.

Even though he cannot say anything about the change of name, Cyril Abiteboul says that he will remain involved with the team as team boss. He will also play a role in the development of Alpine as a brand. For the time being this only consists of one sports car, but in the future, it is expected to grow considerably.
