Horner: "For Verstappen, every race is now a cup final"
During qualifying for the Tuscan Grand Prix, the Red Bull Racing cars were close to the Mercedes cars. Christian Horner, therefore, thinks that Max Verstappen can make life difficult for the competition during the race.
“It's great that both of our drivers have qualified up there at the front, particularly for Alex. And we have been quick in the third sector all weekend. So the first opportunity we are going to get is in the run to turn one and then go from there," says the Red Bull Racing team principal in an interview with Sky Sports F1.
Cup final for Verstappen
“It will be interesting to see how these tyres behave around here because we have no historical data, is it going to be a one-stop? Is it going to be a two-stop? If Max gets half a sniff, he'll go for it because he's got nothing to lose. Every race is like a cup final, so he throw caution to the wind and go for it," the Brit said.
Alexander Albon will start from fourth-place allowing him to help his teammate. "He has been gettting closer and closer over the last few weekends and he has put together a good weekend here, a good qualifying. We also know that he can race well. That gives us options. Mercedes can't cover everything," Horner concludes.
