Albon: "You have to do a perfect lap" to beat Verstappen
Alexander Albon had a good qualifying session in Bahrain. He took fourth place, lining up alongside Max Verstappen. The British-Thai of Red Bull Racing is under pressure at his current employer and a crash in FP2 seemed to add unwanted pressure. After qualifying, however, his mood has changed and so he is looking forward to the race on Sunday.
"24 hours ago it was a bit doom and gloom but you know honestly I was confident in the car It was just a silly mistake and coming from P3 straight away the car feels good and everything feels normal but it's always different with a new car," Albon told Sky Sports.
Happy with Verstappen as a teammate
"I want to be closer and fighting a bit more. We are starting up the front so hopefully we can have a good race and annoy Mercedes. I was a little bit dizzy especially when it's a side (impact) one but I just know it's my fault. I did it in Q2 as well," he added.
Albon explains the difference between his teammate. "It's little bits everywhere & you have to do a perfect lap to get it. It's not one thing when you are up next to someone quick. He is on the limit everywhere. It's the confidence to push it that hard every time. It's pushing and keeping the tyres alive," Albon concludes.
