Albon disappointed to miss Q3: "I didn't get slipstream"
Alex Albon was left frustrated as he failed to make it through to Q3 at the Sakhir Grand Prix, while his teammate Max Verstappen will start third. The Thai driver is already under considerable pressure at Red Bull for his seat in F1 next year, so this result will not help.
Despite missing out on the top-ten shootout, Albon admits that he was satisfied with his first run, telling Sky Sports: "Honestly with my lap, I was quite happy. I didn't get slipstream and the second run was a mess in the final corner so my tyres were cold, but it felt very different from FP3. We tried to save tyres but the car felt very different on mediums."
Although Albon qualified down in 12th, he knows that overtaking is very possible on this shortened layout in Bahrain, adding: "You've seen the F2 race there is a lot of places to overtake and it could be a DRS train, but we are running more downforce, so we could be looking after our tyres more."
