Social media accounts of Bottas and Russell give away possible switch?
- GPblog.com
Valtteri Bottas and George Russell have been strikingly active on Social Media. Is there an imminent switch between these two drivers, or is this just a wild rumour?
For the Sakhir Grand Prix, Russell was brought from Williams to Mercedes to replace Lewis Hamilton, who had become infected with the coronavirus. That weekend Russell made such an impression that many people wondered if he shouldn't get the seat at Mercedes. Online changes feed that speculation.
Surely Russell should go to Mercedes?
Thomas Maher, an experienced Formula 1 journalist at FormulaSpy.com, reports two striking changes on his twitter. Every link to Williams has disappeared from Russell's Twitter account. Where in the past it said that he was a Williams driver, this has now suddenly disappeared.
Of course that may be a coincidence because he was in action for Mercedes this weekend, but there are also changes at Bottas. On Twitter everything is still normal at Bottas, but on Instagram his links to Mercedes have just disappeared. Is this just a wild rumour or can we expect more from SIlly Season this year?
