Liberty anticipates alternative calendar 2021: After Bahrain directly to Europe?
- GPblog.com
In light of the rumours about the postponement of the Australian GP, it is now being reported that Liberty Media is anticipating an alternative calendar for 2021, in which the drivers will most likely move on to Europe directly after Bahrain.
The ambitious racing calendar presented by Liberty Media in December counted 23 races, but doubts are already hanging in the air before the start of the season. As the Italian branch of Motorsport.com reports today, the race in Shanghai, which was due to take place after Bahrain, is growing more unlikely too. This concern comes after rumours about the postponement of the Australian GP were being heard.
Alternative calendar
With these uncertainties in mind, Liberty Media has reportedly started anticipating a Plan B. Of the first couple of Grand Prix of the season, only Bahrain still seems fixed.
Liberty's alternative planning allows the 2021 Formula 1 season to start in Europe, with a meeting at Portimao on 11 April, followed by a meeting at Imola on 25 April. Both of these circuits received good feedback when they appeared on the modified calendar in 2020.
