On 17 March 2021, the sad news emerged that Sabine Schmitz (51) had died after a three-year battle with a rare form of cancer. TopGear will host a special broadcast for Schmitz on Wednesday 7 April, which will also feature Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
Schmitz always made your day brighter
The original trio of TopGear were regularly joined by Schmitz in their time before leaving the show in 2015.
"She was fun and she saw driving a car as a fun thing to do and driving it quickly an even more fun thing to do. I think that came out," Clarkson let it be known to the
Daily Mail.
"When she walked into a room it was as though everything just got a bit brighter and a bit louder," Clarkson continues. Hammond and May also speak nothing but praise for the queen of the Nürburgring.
Wolff also present
The special episode A Tribute to Sabine Schmitz will be broadcast on BBC One on Wednesday April 7th at 19:30. Besides (former) TopGear presenters,
David Coulthard,
Susie Wolff and
Toto Wolff will also be present in the episode.
