- GPblog.com
Good news for Indy 500 fans. The circuit hopes to welcome some 135,000 fans during race day in May. This while the fight against the coronavirus is still in full swing.
Almost half the grandstands filled
With 135,000 fans in the stands, Indianapolis Motor Speedway fills about 40% of the total capacity of the circuit. This way, fans wouldn't have to sit too close together and distance to fight against COVID-19.
"Our fans mean everything to us, and we can’t wait to welcome them ‘Back Home Again’ for this year’s Indy 500," says Indianapolis Motor Speedway President J. Douglas Boles in conversation with Motorsportweek.com.
Health is still paramount
The circuit has been working closely with the city and state to determine appropriate precautions. "The city and state have worked with us to identify the appropriate health and safety precautions so that we can successfully host a limited but very enthusiastic crowd," Douglas Boles let us know. He lets it be known that the health and safety of everyone is the most important.
