Ricciardo happy with race: "I had good problems"
- Toby McLuskie
Daniel Ricciardo hasn't had the easiest of starts since joining McLaren before the season got underway. The Australian tied his season-best finish today with another sixth-place in the Spanish Grand Prix.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the race, the Australian expressed his happiness with the performance in Spain.
"It was a better weekend as Jenson so kindly put it. The race was... I had good problems. The start was good and I got ahead of some faster cars, which therefore meant I didn't have to defend pretty much the whole race."
Battle with Sergio Perez
The main battle Ricciardo found himself in was against Sergio Perez and he explained how he was able to hold the Mexican off for a long period of time, but the Red Bull driver did just enough to edge Ricciardo. He then had to deal with Carlos Sainz for a small portion of time but he was able to do so and was satisfied with the performance.
"With Checo, I was doing as much as I could for as long as I could but obviously he got me, then I had Carlos for the last portion of the race. Personally, I am happier. There is still some time to find in the car and me."
Excited for Monaco
irstly, I am so excited to be there after two years. You don't get the privilege to drive it. It will be a joy to turn a wheel around there."
