Sergio Perez gained four places in the race, a fine performance for a Grand Prix on Monaco's street circuit. He is keen to grab his first podium for his Austrian employer, but qualifying will have to improve.

"Overall, this is a good day for the team. I am happy for Max and for the team, we are leading in both world championships," Perez told Rick Winkelman at Ziggo Sport. Verstappen is four points ahead of Lewis Hamilton, while Red Bull has a lead of one point.

Perez knows the biggest point of improvement

Perez had to find his way from eighth place and that ensured that a P4 was actually the maximum achievable Sunday afternoon."I really need to find something on those Saturdays. The race pace is very good, so we need that Saturday and then it will come to us," he is confident.

In other words: Perez still needs to improve himself, as he knows the RB16B has the speed to fight for pole positions. "I'm not learning the car as fast as Max. We need to improve that," said the Mexican.
