''If Mercedes don't, that's a huge advantage for Red Bull''

Toto Wolff surprised friend and foe by saying there will be no more updates at Mercedes in 2021. Timo Glock has his own thoughts on the matter, with Max Verstappen the favourite for the second race in Austria.
Wolff announced after the race in Austria that his team will not come up with any more updates this year. The focus will be shifted to 2022, and that was of course bad news for Lewis Hamilton, who said he still hopes for an update. Glock wonders if Mercedes will comply.
Pressure on Mercedes
''I'm curious to see if Mercedes will really stop development for the current season and focus entirely on the new 2022 rules, or if they will come up with an update after all. Lewis Hamilton has already asked for that. ''If Mercedes don't, then that's a huge advantage for Red Bull, because their car already looks good and its deserving of being in the lead,'' Glock said in his column for Sky Germany.
The former Formula 1 driver also looks ahead to the second race at the Red Bull Ring. ''The second race in Spielberg will probably not be much different from the first, except that softer tyres will be brought. That will only help Red Bull more, because their tyre management is very good. So all the omens are there again that Verstappen will win at the Red Bull Ring," concludes the German.
