Formula 1 has reportedly scrapped the Q2 tyre rule in qualifying. That's what some observant Formula 1 followers on Reddit claim after digging into the new rulebook.

The drivers who qualify for Q3 in the qualifying session have to start on the tyres with which they drove the fastest time in Q2, according to the current rules. Many teams find this unfair, as it gives a big advantage to the teams just outside the top ten. They have a free choice of tyres for the race.

The FIA seems to be aware of this as well, as according to Reddit users the new rule is no longer in the regulations. If this rumour is true, it means that from 2022 onwards the top teams will have more opportunities to determine their strategy for the race and in this way have an advantage over the competition.

A good performance by Norris

Where Mercedes and Red Bull Racing have a big lead on the other teams again this season, Lando Norris is showing himself combative for the time being. The McLaren driver is in fourth place with 9 points more than Valtteri Bottas. His gap to Sergio Pérez is only three points.
