Pierre Gasly's contract with the Red Bull Racing group runs until the end of 2023, but the Frenchman has made no secret of his desire to move up the ranks before then. Gasly replaced Daniel Ricciardo in the main team for the 2019 campaign, but after a disappointing half-season he was transferred back to sister team AlphaTauri.

Gasly's name has already been linked to McLaren, Alpine and even Williams, but the Frenchman wants to drive for Red Bull, and revealed that ultimately the Austrian team will decide where he drives next year.

"It's up to them," the 25-year-old driver confirmed at the press conference ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix. "Verstappen is under contract at Red Bull and Pérez seems to be staying there as well. We'll just have to see what happens, but of course I have a contract. I think we will hear more in or during the summer break."

Gasly awaits Red Bull

According to Formule1.nlamong others, Gasly says that Helmut Marko would like to see a leader at AlphaTauri to help the team. In Marko's eyes that is Gasly, but of course he himself would like nothing more than to take his seat next to Max Verstappen again. "They have it in their hands. They have to decide if they want to continue with Pérez. At the moment things are going well. I'm concentrating on my work for AlphaTauri and doing as well as I can here."
