George Russell has made no secret of his desire to make the move to Mercedes after this season, but there's still no knot tied. In the press conference prior to the Hungarian Grand Prix, the Williams driver was asked for a new status update.

"Something like that is always a long process, whether you stay with a team or switch. I'm sure the decision will be made in the summer. But whether it will be announced ... I just want to have fun and score points here," Russell told Motorsport-Magazin.com and others. It is therefore expected that Toto Wolff will open talks with Valtteri Bottas and Russell around the summer break.

Race incident according to Russell

Like Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, Russell also had to say a few words about Max Verstappen's crash at the British Grand Prix. "In my opinion it was a racing incident. I can't say who was at fault, because sometimes nobody is at fault. The important thing is that Max was fine. I don't think clearer rules are needed because it was, for me, just a racing incident," he states.

After 10 Grands Prix this seaosn, Russell is still waiting for his first World Championship point for Williams. In Hungary, as at Silverstone, the 23-year old driver hopes to reach Q3 again and then finish it off a day later on Sunday.
