Remarkable suggestion: 'Stroll to Mercedes, Bottas to Aston Martin'

It remains to be seen who will be Lewis Hamilton's teammate in 2022. Mercedes seems to be choosing between Valtteri Bottas and George Russell, but Jacques Villeneuve came up with another striking suggestion after the Hungarian Grand Prix: Lance Stroll of Aston Martin.
After the first half of the season that counted eleven Grands Prix, the Canadian driver is in fourteenth place in the world championship with 18 points. In the first races of 2021, he was ahead of his new teammate Sebastian Vettel, but the German four-time world champion has prevailed in recent weeks.
Canadian driver at Mercedes?
Still, Villeneuve does consider his compatriot an option for Toto Wolff's team. "For me, he [Bottas] could move to Aston Martin in place of Lance Stroll, who would go to Mercedes," he states to Italian publication Libero Quotidiano.
Villeneuve cites that Wolff is very good friends with Lawrence Stroll. "Stroll senior’s dream, very close to Toto Wolff, is to see his son winning Championships. And Toto needs a place for Valtteri. For sure Hamilton doesn’t like Russell as a teammate. Better someone like Bottas, who doesn’t bother him," said the 1997 world champion.
Stroll's performance at the Hungaroring last weekend was not exactly what it should have been. He crashed out of Charles Leclerc and received a five-place grid penalty for the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix.
