Marko: 'Decide in the next two years if Gasly will go to Red Bull'

Pierre Gasly is having an excellent season and that has not escaped anyone's attention. Red Bull Racing advisor is also keeping a close eye on the Frenchman's performance and says there is a chance Gasly could be driving for Red Bull again within the next two years.
AlphaTauri needs a team leader
Marko is very happy with how Gasly's season is going so far but knows it's important that sister team AlphaTauri has a driver who can help develop the team. "We are putting a lot of effort into our AlphaTauri brand and we need a very strong team leader there," said Marko in conversation with Newstalk ZB.
"He's driving at his best, but being number one in a very good sister team is a different story than being number two to Max Verstappen in the top team," Marko continued. Gasly has already driven for a short period as Red Bull's second driver but was sent back to the sister team after only 12 races following disappointing results.
To Red Bull or on the free market?
"We are looking at his progress very much. Within the next two years we’ll make a decision if he’ll be on the free market or if he’ll go to Red Bull," said Marko. The 78-year-old Austrian adds that current second Red Bull driver Sergio Perez is already 31 years old and therefore will not race at Red Bull for very long.
