McLaren can be satisfied with the first half of the season. The British racing team is together with
Ferrari joint third in the Constructors' Championship and also has a good performing driver in
Lando Norris on the track.
The
McLaren driver managed to get between Mercedes and
Red Bull Racing several times this season and proved to have a lot of talent. So far he hasn't gone further than a couple of third places. However, that is very impressive considering the forces of the top teams.
Ricciardo's disappointing results
Daniel Ricciardo is having a lesser season. The Australian clearly needs to get used to his new car and remained in the middle of the driver field in several Grands Prix.
“He’s a driver who likes to roll the speed in the corner and not necessarily attack the braking as much as our car requires," analysed Andrea Stella in conversation with
The Race.
However, the McLaren engineer thinks it's just a matter of time before Ricciardo starts to perform. "We understood very quickly what the issue was. We could model this aspect, which means Daniel knows what to do in terms of working on the simulator, in terms of coaching the driver. But the progress that we do see race after race is not necessarily a switch."
