Nyck de Vries and Robin Frijns did not do well in Formula E qualifying. The Dutchmen finished nineteenth and twenty-third respectively, which means they will start from the back of the grid.

The championship is approaching its denouement, with the Dutch drivers seemingly fighting it out together for the world title. Where De Vries scored 95 points in the past few months, Frijns managed to score 89 points. Therefore, the Dutch driver will have to work hard to beat De Vries this weekend.

Formula E divides the drivers into five groups in qualifying, based on the standings in the world championship. This meant that Frijns and De Vries had to start qualifying straight away. Both drivers failed to convince in qualifying, so they'll have to work hard in the race to move up through the field.

Battle for pole position in Germany

Jean-Eric Vergne starts from pole position. Behind Vergne, Antonio Felix da Costa and Lucas di Grassi will start the race. They both came up just short of the Frenchman's time. Sam Bird and Jake Dennis, number three and four in the World Championship, finished in twelfth and eighth place.
