Aitken calls for changes at Spa: "Right in the line of fire"

Jack Aitken was quite shocked last month when he drove off the track at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, landed against the tyre pile and then spun back onto the track. The driver, therefore, calls for a radical change.
The driver was competing in the 24 Hours of Spa in his Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo. After he drove into the tyre pile, he came to a standstill in the middle of the ideal line. This resulted in Frankck Perera, Davide Rigon and Kevin Estre crashing into him.
"The problem is in the kind of crash I had when you hit the left side of the track," Aitken explained to Motorsport.com. "The space between the middle of Eau Rouge - where you go up the hill - to the tyre stacks on the left is not enough. You don't have time to brake there. In my case, I was trying to catch oversteer. The car was still going relatively straight, but I knew there was no way I could avoid the tire stacks."
Aitken wants to help with track improvements
The longer run-off lane should help reduce the risks in the event of a crash at Spa in the future. "When you crash and the energy is absorbed, now you just bounce back. Right in the line of fire. I've already spoken to some people at the FIA to see if I can help them from the driver's perspective."
