Seidl agrees with Wolff: 'Hopefully we can discuss that again'

The Formula 1 calendar has never been bigger than this year, with a record 22 races taking place this season. This will be increased to 23 races in 2022 when the Miami Grand Prix will be added to that calendar. McLaren boss Andreas Seidl is not very happy about this.
Teams, in fact, have to deal with grueling double and triple race weekends. The bigger the calendar gets, the tougher it becomes for the staff. Andreas Seidl does have some ideas on how to create the right balance between the financial part of the sport and the effort of the teams.
"In terms of race calendar, I think from our side, Zak [Brown] and myself have made clear what we think should happen moving forward. Regarding, let’s say, having the right balance between the commercial interests we all have and regarding the workload we can put on our people, we think a calendar moving forward which is focusing more on exclusivity and quality with around 20 races per year," Seidl told f1i.com after the Russian Grand Prix.
"At the end it is Stefano [Domenicali’s] job and responsibility and we have to trust that he finds the right balance there as well between commercial interests that we have as a team and also in terms of looking after his people, our people and you guys [media]," Seidl said.
Seidl sees benefits of rotating schedule
Toto Wolff also had something to say about the calendar and suggested a rotation schedule. The German engineer says he thinks this is a good idea as well. "First of all, the idea Toto mentioned I think we have brought up two years [ago] but unfortunately there was not enough support from the teams. So hopefully with the calendar we have in place now, there is a chance to discuss again the topic because that’s something we could also definitely support from our side."
