The medical car during the Turkish Grand Prix at the Istanbul Park circuit will not be driven by Dr. Ian Roberts and Alan van der Merwe as is normally the case. The FIA has confirmed this.

Positive coronavirus test

The reason for the absence of the duo, who last year performed heroically during the heavy crash of Romain Grosjean in Bahrain, is a positive coronavirus test. Both Roberts and Van Der Merwe tested positive before taking the plane to Turkey.

The pair are in isolation and both will therefore not be able to drive the medical car during the Turkish Grand Prix. The FIA has already called in replacements.

Replacements

The replacements are both Bruno's. It is about Bruna Correia, who will take place behind the wheel and who will do the honours for Van Der Merwe. Dr. Bruno Franceschini will take the place of Dr. Roberts. Both substitutes are acquaintances of the FIA, as they do the same job during the Formula E-weekends.
