Sainz: "We managed to turn the soft into a medium"

Despite his complaints about the incident with Daniel Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz doesn't seem entirely dissatisfied with his race in the United States. According to him, he didn't suffer from his start on the soft tyre.
Also positive points for Sainz
Sainz finished seventh in the GP of America. Although he was not happy with Ricciardo's action on lap 43 and believes he should have finished ahead of the Australian, the Spaniard still sees something positive in his race.
Indeed, the fear was that with his start in the top ten on the softest tyre, he would immediately fall a long way behind. Fortunately for him and for Ferrari this turned out to be not so bad. Motorsport-total.com quotes Sainz: "Surprisingly, we managed to turn the soft into a medium, so to speak, with more grip."
Set-up helped Sainz in first stint
Sainz means by that the set-up of his Ferrari was so good, that expected extreme degradation did not occur in the first stint. He realized this when he drove to the grid: "I already had a good feeling about that."
Sainz: "And then I also realized: Soft would not be a problem in the race because the balance in the car and the behavior of the tires were better than expected."
