The Mexican Grand Prix will take place this weekend. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez talk about the expectations and how much they are looking forward to more podiums and victories in Red Bull Racing's press release.
The Grand Prix of the United States was won by Verstappen. It was a big surprise because Mercedes has always been dominant there. Nevertheless, he managed to stand on the highest step of the podium and that has given the Dutchman a good feeling.
"The last few races were obviously quite difficult with various engine penalties and a few unlucky moments, so it definitely felt good to be back up there with Checo beside me. It was a very satisfying win, we showed good pace at the US GP so I’m looking to build on that momentum and it was of course also very important to score solid points for the championship."
Furthermore, the 24-year-old driver has fond memories of his wins in Mexico so he is looking forward to racing there again, especially as it is Perez's home race. "I know we will have a lot more fans now with Checo in the Team too so I’m looking forward to seeing all of them at the track and of course hopefully we can have a competitive weekend. It’s incredibly important for myself and the Team to try and nail the next three races now that we are fighting for the championship."
Perez ready for another podium finish
The Mexican is eager to get started, as he will be driving his home race this weekend. He is still most excited about the fact that he has a car that might even allow him to finish on the podium. "It’s just great to finally have a team and a car that we can dream of a victory in my home country. We have a chance to make a big result happen this weekend, so I will prepare as well as I can and we will see what we are able to achieve."
It's going to be a special weekend for the 31-year-old driver. He will do a show run through the streets of Mexico City and he will treat the team to Mexican food to give them an idea of the traditions in his motherland. A special helmet with the colours of the Mexican flag will complete the party.
