Alexander Albon has a new engineer at the pit wall since the Grand Prix of Great Britain. Simon Rennie returns to the paddock and has to bring the Thai to great heights.
Rennie was
Daniel Ricciardo's engineer with the
Red Bull Racing team for many years, but since the Australian's departure, she has returned to a role in the factory. Mike Lugg was Albon's engineer, but he will go the opposite way back to the factory. Rennie must use his experience to help Albon get back on track.
Albon gets more help
''It was clear to us that Albon is not yet achieving its full potential. His new racing engineer (Rennie) brings a lot of experience and can help him. I think that from the Grand Prix of Great Britain we will see an immediate improvement", says
Helmut Marko to
F1 insider.com.
The question is why Rennie isn't standard on the pit wall, but Marko wants to defend Albon's former engineer. ''His previous engineer didn't do badly, but he was still quite inexperienced in his new position'', concludes the Austrian top man.
