Alexander Albon is happy for
Charles Leclerc after the
Ferrari driver managed to get his first pole position. The two young drivers know each other from racing in junior Formula's and whilst Albon admits that he knew Leclerc was quick, he is surprised as to how quickly he has settled in at Ferrari.
"I get on really well with Charles," Albon said to the BBC. "We had our GP3 experience, and to be honest, already back then, it was, 'This guy is seriously, seriously quick'. "I was really happy for him - it's really cool. From what I know of him, he could always do these laps - sort of, 'Where did that come from?' Today was maybe one of those laps."
"Seeing Charles fighting with Seb so early in the season," he said. "I thought it would take longer for him to be able to get there."
Leclerc has been told by the team that he is free to race, meaning that it could be a very interesting run into turn one with his team-mate, Sebastian Vettel, starting the race alongside him.
Ferrari will hope that their two drivers race fairly and that they can bring back both cars with some solid points.
