Alexander Albon is back in
Formula 1 this season. The Thai driver had to leave the
Red Bull Racing team at the end of 2020, but after a year of absence he gets a chance at
Williams.
The driver will not have an easy task, as he has to forget about
George Russell at the race track. The British driver is having an excellent season at
Williams, which earned him a place at Mercedes.
Williams then went looking for a new driver and hesitated between Albon and Nyck de Vries. In the end Albon was the lucky one, partly due to his experience in
Formula 1.
"I have to say that I don't know exactly what the situation at Alfa Romeo is now, but maybe there is still a place for him there," he thinks along with De Vries at
Motorsport.com.
"In any case, I know Nyck well and appreciate him too, although of course I am very grateful to be presented with this opportunity."Help from Albon to Verstappen and Pérez
Albon is helping
Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez improve the car this year.
"I get along very well with Max and Checo and understand from my own experience of course where the pain points are. The car has indeed improved, but in the basics not much has changed in the last two years and certain things remain tricky. That's when experience helps."
