Logan Sargeant will have to leave
Williams with immediate effect. Despite the fact that this was coming, it will be a heavy blow for the American. His former teammate,
Alexander Albon, expresses his condolences on
Instagram. The heavy crash during the third free practice session at Zandvoort seems to have been the final straw for
Logan Sargeant.
Williams announced on Tuesday that he will have to leave his
Formula 1 seat for
Franco Colapinto with immediate effect. His former Williams teammate,
Alexander Albon, reacted to the news on
Instagram. He posted a picture of the two with the following caption:
"I know firsthand how brutal this sport can be & it’s tough to see Logan leave the team mid-season. You gave it your all brother and it’s been a pleasure being teammates with you. I know whatever you do next, you’ll be awesome."
Alexander Albon knows from his own experience how difficult this situation will be for Sargeant. In 2019, he was called to step in as
Pierre Gasly's replacement at
Red Bull Racing. In turn, the Thai-Brit had to make way for
Sergio Perez in 2021, after which he experienced a year without an
F1 seat. Sargeant himself has not yet commented on the news.
