Hungary is usually one of the better circuits for the
McLaren car due to its low power demands.
Fernando Alonso says he is looking forward to the race this weekend as well as a much-needed summer break.
We’re still unsure if the Spaniard will remain in F1 next season, but from his recent interview with F1i, it sounds like he is still excited to be involved in a Grand Prix weekend.
“The Hungaroring is a great track and an enjoyable place to finish the first half of the season before the summer break,” the two-time world champion said.
“I expect a lot of fun there as it’s always a nice event. The track itself is a good one, it’s like a big go-kart circuit for Formula 1. There’s no time to breathe, especially in the second sector where there are a lot of corners.” The target in the McLaren garage is firmly set on a points finish. Alonso has picked up just eight points since leaving Monaco in late May.
“We’ll prepare ourselves to be ready for anything, and see if we can bring home some points. It’s normally a good weekend,” he continued.
The papaya orange car is expected to receive upgrades this weekend. The team limited running in FP1 last Friday to test these new parts.
