At forty years old,
Fernando Alonso is one of the most experienced drivers in
Formula 1. The Spaniard therefore has a good overview of which circuits are important in the motorsport class and mentions the
Monaco Grand Prix as an example in conversation with
Motorsportweek.com.
Last weekend's race weekend was scheduled to be the seventh GP of the season. Partly due to heavy rain, it was ultimately
Sergio Perez who prevailed and took the win, while
Charles Leclerc was unable to convert his pole position into a podium finish.
Monaco GP gets support from Alonso
Alonso is a big fan of the Monaco circuit. Although he agrees that in the race on Sunday under normal circumstances there are hardly any overtakes to be seen, he believes that the race weekend does provide excitement in
Formula 1. The driver therefore believes that the Monaco GP deserves support.
"I think Monaco deserves anyhow to be on the F1 calendar. I think it’s a great place to come to," stated Alonso, who still sees improvements. "Like this the show could be a bit better on Sunday but even if not, I still think everyone knows a weekend here is about qualifying, around the pitstops."
