Fernando Alonso has revealed that he's not considering Formula E for next season, nor WRC, as the Spaniard admitted that he "doesn't have the talent" to go rallying after his F1 career is done.
We already know that Alonso will be participating in at least three WEC events with Toyota in 2019, as he'll try to defend his title at Le Mans coming June for the Japanese team. While this will keep the two-time Formula One champion busy for a part of the year, he'll definitely want to do something else with his time as well.
"I'm working on a plan, on a calendar with more than three races," he told RaceFans.
When asked what type of racing he is expecting to do next year, he had clearly not made his mind up yet. Where the Spaniard has hinted to a move to IndyCar several times so he can win the Indy 500, making him the second ever winner of the famous 'triple-crown', he had other things on his mind too.
“Pikes’ Peak, Dakar Rally, Monte-Carlo Rally… As I said I will not do that [rally] because I need to know where my limits are and I don’t have the talent to do that.
“I know what are my limitations but at the same time I know that Formula 1 is also a very, very small world.
"We all think that here is the maximum of motorsport and then you go to another series and they don’t know the face of the either driver here on the grid
"This is the way it is and the way that I will try to discover next couple of years.”
Despite being tempted to a move to the Formula E by the sport's CEO Alejandro Agag, Alonso was not swayed as the sport is not a priority of his as of now. However, he doesn't rule it out for the future.
”I didn’t consider yet probably because it has been quite a new series.
“We don’t have the tradition of big races or big places or big things happening in Formula E so far because it’s a very young formula.
"But who knows in the future."
