Valtteri Bottas has claimed that his two crashes late on in the race with Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo were racing incidents, but has received a ten place grid penalty and two points on his FIA license.

Bottas was running in P2 until the final few laps, when under pressure from Vettel, the two cars touched, damaging his front wing severely.

With the loss in downforce and therefore speed, he was swiftly caught by Ricciardo, and they collided at turn one, damaging the Red Bull’s sidepod.

Bottas has since defended his actions on track, in an interview with Sky Sports.

He said: "With Seb, he had a good run into Turn Two, we had a bit of a battle into Turn One. I still had my nose inside into Turn Two, he was on the outside, he turned in very early and for me there was nowhere to go. So we touched and I was the only one who got damage. Fair enough, I think a racing incident.

"With Daniel, pretty much a similar thing. But I was next to him on the inside. I had no half of my front wing so I was locking up as well. I'm sure he saw I was still going quite quick into the corner, but he turned in and then we touched."

As always in Formula One, it’s all about opinions, do you think Bottas was responsible for the crashes? Or were they both racing incidents, as the Finn has claimed?
