Valtteri Bottas believes that
Sebastian Vettel poses the biggest threat to Mercedes’ dominance, despite the emergence of teammate Charles Leclerc and the improved form of Max Verstappen.
Mercedes have recorded 1-2 finishes in the first three races of the season, and Bottas sits just behind teammate Lewis Hamilton in the drivers’ standings, with Mercedes already 57 points ahead of Ferrari in the constructors’ standings.
Vettel has not been at his best this season, coming under pressure from Leclerc and trailing Verstappen in the standings, but Bottas still believes the German provides a threat.
He said: “It’s tough to say at this point of the year. They all have potential to fight for the title.
“Sebastian is quite experienced. They are now second in the constructors’ championship, Charles is very young and keen to beat Sebastian.
“But maybe because of Sebastian’s experience. If I had to choose one name, it would be him.”
