Ross Brawn has suggested
Mick Schumacher should move into F2 if he is serious about copying his fathers' footsteps in F1. Brawn, who probably watched Mick grow up, is excited about the prospect but is keen to ensure he gets time before stepping up.
Schumacher currently leads the F3 championship by 49 points with just one round remaining. The 19-year-old took his first win in Belgium earlier this season and looks likely to wrap up the title in his home round at Hockenheim.
Max Verstappen jumped straight from F3 to F1. While Brawn acknowledged this could be done, he wants to give Schumacher the best possible steps to prepare for F1 action.
“I’m excited that he’s doing so well. There’s a lot of good memories, but he has to take a few more steps before he can go to Formula 1," Brawn told Tass news agency.
“Mick is a very mature young man, and I think he knows he still needs to develop to be ready for being a F1 driver.
“If Mick wants to prepare properly for Formula 1, Formula 2 is the next logical step for him. Today we have a much closer collaboration between Formula 2 and F1, and he could learn many of the tracks,” Brawn added.
Schumi one and Schumi two worked out to be fantastic drivers, but we think we're going to have to wait another year or two at least before finding out how the latest Schumi can race in F1!
