Formula One Managing Director,
Ross Brawn believes the gap between Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull compared to the others is "too big".
Last week's Silverstone Grand Prix was as clear of an indication as any about the power of the top three teams.
Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton dropped back to P18 after the opening lap spin following an incident with Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen.
Hamilton was able to perform a remarkable recovery drive which saw the Brit finish in second place.
Despite it being an amazing drive from Hamilton, this simply should not happen.
"Of course, Silverstone was also the place where there was so much spectacle," Brawn said.
"In the midfield there were many teams very close together and because of that the difference in points because very small.
"But at the same time we also have to conclude that the difference with the top teams has just become too big.
"Three teams that can do so much more in the field of speed, that's just a shame for the sport."
There has been speculation about a cost-cut which should help this problem, theoretically.
