Italian Aldo Costa joined the team at the start of the 2011 season. He is currently the engineering director at Mercedes but will leave his role at the end of the season. John Owen, the current chief designer, will take over this role.
Costa has been involved in 12 constructors championship winning cars. His first came in 1999 with Ferrari.
Mark Ellis joined the German team in 2014. His previous roles include Jaguar racing, BAR and Red Bull during their championship winning years.
Loic Serra will replace Mark Ellis at the end of the season as the new performance director.
Costa has changed roles. He will now be the techincal director which will allow him to spend more time with his family.
Team principal Toto Wolff said on the Mercedes website: “This is a significant moment for our Team and a great opportunity. We have said many times that you cannot freeze a successful organisation; it is a dynamic structure and I am proud that we are able to hand the baton smoothly to the next generation of leaders inside the team."
"Mark and Aldo have both helped to shape the timing and manner of these changes, and the Team’s future is very bright with John, Loic and our entire technical leadership working under James’ direction.”
Costa, 57 also commented. He remains confident that the Mercedes success will continue in the long term.
