Exactly 31 years ago today, Nigel Mansell shook the
Formula 1 world at
Silverstone. The comeback from the Brit is known as one of the best in the history of the sport.
Mansell was battling with team-mate Nelson Piquet for the World Championship title. In this particular race, Mansell had an issue which caused vibrations in his car.
Mansell had to close a 29-second gap to the leader at the time Piquet. Time after time, the lap record at Silverstone was beaten as Mansell hunted down the leader. To the crowd's delight, Mansell went on to take the race victory with an impressive overtake in Stowe corner.
