McLaren CEO
Zak Brown thinks that it would be great for
Ferrari to enter
IndyCar. According to Brown, it could create 'excitement and intrigue' in the series.
McLaren bought the
IndyCar team from Schmidt Peterson in 2020 and will be at the start of the
Indy500 next Sunday with three cars.
Ferrari have already expressed its interest in participating in the
IndyCar after the introduction of the budget cap that
Formula 1 teams will face from 2021.
Great for IndyCar
"I think it would be great if Ferrari joined IndyCar. I think it would be great for their brand. I think it would be great for IndyCar, no doubt bringing some additional excitement and intrigue", Brown said to
TheRace.com.
"Whether they come as a team or as an engine manufacturer or both, we very much welcome Ferrari’s participation", concludes Brown. In the 1980s, Ferrari also considered entering the IndyCar, but eventually decided not to race anyway.
