Alfa Romeo has presented Callum Ilott as the team's brand new second reserve driver. The youngster, who is seen as a great talent, will share this task with Robert Kubica this season.
Ilott had an excellent season last year, finishing second in the
Formula 2 final standings. While number one Mick Schumacher and number three Yuki Tsunoda moved up to
Formula 1 the following year, Ilott was denied a seat. This opportunity allows him to do so. As a reserve driver, he will make his debut in
Formula 1 this weekend.
The talent is very happy with the opportunity. He says in the press release:
"The two sessions I had with the team in the last two years have been extremely useful in getting me accustomed to the way a Formula One team works and I am confident I can hit the ground running in my new role as one of the reserve drivers at Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN."
