Claire
Williams is very pleased with
Williams' driver line up for the 2020 season. They are two relatively inexperienced racers who are at the start of their
Formula 1 careers but
George Russell and
Nicholas Latifi are at the top of their game and are ready to race.
“I am very satisfied with this year's line-up. Nicholas is doing great, but unfortunately, he has lost time due to engine problems,” Claire Williams explains during a press conference where GPblog.com was present.
“He is slightly older than the average rookie, but he has a lot of experience from junior classes. What I have seen is that he is capable of sitting in the racing seat this year. He already showed that last year. Russell has also proven to be a very mature adult last season. They did a great job during the test days with their feedback."
Williams had a mixed preseason testing but they believe that things will be more positive than they were last year.
“We have now started well, but we must continue to implement upgrades and we will do that too. Less than last year, because the resources are limited. It is not easy, I would have preferred the budget cap this year, because the top teams are going to spend as much money as they can towards 2021.
"There is still no date on which our focus will go entirely to 2021, we are waiting for that."
Williams are expected to be faster than last year but will still be near the back of the grid. They will hope to build some momentum and drag themselves back from the depths of dispair.
