Nyck de Vries has had a very positive weekend. The Dutchman was asked to deputise for Alexander Albon at Williams and on his debut at the Italian Grand Prix immediately scored his first points. In conversation with Omroep Fryslân the driver talks about his chances for 2023.

For years, the name of De Vries has been mentioned when it comes to potential drivers in Formula 1. However, several teams did not dare to go with the Dutchman and opted for another driver, so Max Verstappen's countryman is still waiting for a permanent place in the motorsport class.

De Vries hopes to convince F1 teams

Last weekend, De Vries proved the racing teams wrong by getting into his car in only the third free practice session and finishing in the top ten. By doing so he showed Williams and others that he is ready to make the switch to Formula 1, although he is not quite sure about it in his interview with the Frisian newspaper.

"It is a dynamic world. For that reason it is difficult to assess my chances", De Vries says. "What happened on Sunday undoubtedly gave me a push. But it is not up to me who gets to sit in their car. Whatever happens, this debut will not be taken away from me."
