Stefano Domenicali has commented on Charles Leclerc's performance in an interview with F1-insider.com. In it, he spoke about the Monegasque's results of late, his future and possible chances of winning a world title.

Leclerc finished second last season and this was due to two different things. Primarily Ferrari's wrong choices and strategies as well as Red Bull's good performance. But now that Vasseur is the new team boss, and the fact that he is already familiar with Leclerc, it might mean new chances of a world title for the 25-year-old driver.

No mistakes for Leclerc

The former Ferrari team boss argued that Leclerc himself has already realised how important the upcoming seasons will be for him. "He has to expect the team to provide him with the best possible car, but at the same time he cannot afford to make any mistakes, otherwise the problem will get worse," the Italian argued.

The 57-year-old Formula 1 boss also outlined that this will be a "very important phase" for Leclerc. He is still very young, but if real steps are to be taken towards a world title, a more competitive car will really have to be built. The Ferrari was still very unreliable in some aspects last season. Whether this season's poor start for Leclerc is a harbinger of the end result, that remains to be seen.
