Daniel Ricciardo was hampered by a DRS issue in qualifying as both Red Bull's struggle to fight again. In Austria, Ricciardo was beaten by Romain Grosjean but today managed to keep them at bay.
In his interview with Sky Sports after the session, he downplayed the effects of the DRS issue. Overall, the Australian found himself 0.900 behind his closest rival Valtteri Bottas who was a further 0.400 behind session winner Lewis Hamilton.
"It was a few tenths. It's not going to change the world for us," Ricciardo said.
"it's just a bit frustrating. We already know we're a bit off the pace down the straights so when the DRS wasn't working, it's just more frustrating more than anything."
Despite these frustrations, Ricciardo remained upbeat about tomorrow's race. Last weekend his team-mate won having started from fifth, so it's not out of the question.
However, former World Champion Damon Hill said Red Bull have to rely on tyre issues for the top two team to have any hope of winning their second consecutive race.
"The only chance for Red Bull is if there's a blistering issue. But why not? Ferrari and Mercedes could go hard that they destroy their tyres," Hill told Sky Sports.
