The
Dutch Grand Prix in 2021 will be held later in the year than planned for 2020. As a result, the race at
Zandvoort will return to
Formula 1 more than 36 years after the last edition.
In 2020, F1 should have returned to
Zandvoort for the first time in 35 years, but the coronavirus put a stop to it. Fans were not allowed to go to the circuit and with the Orange Legion as the biggest plus at Zandvoort, they chose to postpone the race for a year. However, we will have to wait a little longer.
Zandvoort back on the calendar
According to
De Telegraaf, several sources around the management of
Formula 1 and the
FIA have confirmed that the Grand Prix will be held at Zandvoort on 5 September. The race will then no longer be the first European GP as it was in May, but will now take place after the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps.
Nobody knows how the future will unfold, but Zandvoort will hope that in September there will again be an opportunity to admit fans to the circuit. In any case, that chance will be greater in September than in May. Besides Zandvoort, the new calendar with 23 races will be announced according to De Telegraaf in the coming weeks. The new country that will be present on that calendar is Saudi Arabia.
