Formula One has launched a global marketing campaign ahead of the Australia Grand Prix next weekend.
Previous owners CVC Capital and Bernie Ecclestone made F1 rely on others to promote the sport including teams, circuits and broadcasters.
These mini campaigns were shown on TV, and incldued public show runs with social media.
But now, the new owners Liberty Media have launched a campaign of their own to engage the fans ahead of the start of the season.
Ellie Norman, director of marketing said: “There is definitely a sense of appreciation that for the first time Formula 1 is promoting the sport and the series itself.
“The teams work incredibly hard from their team and driver perspective but there has not been something from Formula 1 that promotes the series.”
The marketing campaign includes a one minute film called Engineered Insanity. On the video, Formula one fans go inside a wind tunnel, and are seemingly being blown away from the action being shown.
The film will be shown on social media and clips of it will be broadcast around the world.
Prior to every race this season, there will be a new TV spot showing action from the previous weekends race.
Liberty Media also has an extended deal with snapchat and will host live F1 shows as they did in London last summer.
