Ferrari has let tyre manufacturer Pirelli know that they were unhappy with the track of Fiorano as it was too dry to test the wet compounds.
The weather is never favourable for F1-testing it seems. In pre-season testing in Barcelona, it was snowing at times, which makes it virtually pointless to drive in terms of data collection. Now, Ferrari wanted to do some wet-tyre testing in Fiorano, but the sun was shining.
Pirelli made sure to put on the sprinklers and the tyre was very wet, but not wet enough according to Ferrari.
The test also meant that Daniil Kvyat was able to make his first laps in an F1-car since he got cut from the Toro Rosso-team at the tail-end of last year.
SpeedWeek reported that Ferrari wasn't happy with the conditions on the track, as Kvyat had to come in several times so the track could be re-sprinkled with water. For intermediate tyres, it's not a problem if the track is just a bit wet, but when driving on full-wets a track really has to be drenched for them to be effective.
The only thing Pirelli can do is hope that Ferrari has collected sufficient data, even though the conditions were far from optimal
