Maurizio Arrivabene believes that Mercedes could find themselves in hot water over an overly flexible rear wing. Ferrari noted that the Mercedes rear wing was flexing to a noticeable degree compared to other teams, something which is illegal in Formula One.
Whilst earlier in the season multiple teams, including Mercedes, lodged a complaint with the FIA over recent Ferrari power unit upgrades, the Scuderia was found to be within the rules and no action was taken by the sports governing body.
Interestingly, Arrivabene mentioned that any investigation into the issue would have to come from the FIA themselves, hinting that an appeal would not be lodged by their team rather just attention toward the issue.
“That’s the FIA’s job, not ours,” Arrivabene told Sky Italia.
“We are already busy to answer to all the questions they ask us every race. But yes, we noticed it. Let’s see if also the FIA will notice it.”
No investigation has been launched thus far however with the next round of the world championship being on Ferrari home turf in Monza, any investigation into Mercedes would likely draw a positive reception from the ever vocal Tifosi.
