After qualifying for the
Portuguese Grand Prix, there were no drivers under investigation for possible incidents. In 2020 we often saw penalties for holding up other drivers. Fortunately, this was not the case in
Portimao, so the race committee had a quiet Saturday night.
This also means that there are no changes to the final starting grid.
Valtteri Bottas will start on pole, with
Lewis Hamilton alongside him. Behind the Finn,
Max Verstappen will start from third spot, with teammate
Sergio Perez next to him. The third row of the grid will be filled by
Carlos Sainz and
Esteban Ocon.
Russell fighting for points again?
On P7,
Lando Norris will start, followed by
Charles Leclerc and
Pierre Gasly.
Sebastian Vettel will start in the top ten for the first time in a long time, although it remains to be seen if it will be an advantage. From P11 the drivers have free choice of tyres and
George Russell will try to make the most of it. From P11 he has a good chance of scoring his first points of the season.
